Today (June 19) is Juneteenth, a holiday celebrating the
complete emancipation of slaves in the U.S. … A number of writers of
color have noted that, when teaching kids about racism, talk about
violence and oppression, but don’t dwell too much on that.
Also celebrate diversity, and read books with kids of color
doing normal, fun things. And what’s more fun than
celebrating a holiday like Juneteenth?!?!! Here are seven superb
books for kids about Juneteenth!
